Our league is going to use the Golf Genius app this season for all our games.
Think of Golf Genius as a digital scorecard right on your phone. It eliminates the need for the pro shop to manually type our scores into their system, which means two major benefits for us:
Worry-Free Math: There is no need to spend time trying to figure out the complex rules of some of the formats we play. Just play your normal game and enter your raw gross score into the app. It automatically applies your handicap dots to the correct holes, figures out the team score based on that day's game, and handles the posting directly to GHIN for you.
Instant Leaderboards: The second our final putt drops, the tournament results are done—no more waiting around the clubhouse for numbers to be crunched.
WHEN IT IS TIME TO PLAY
Step 1: Get Your Game-Day Code
Head straight to your golf cart when you arrive. The pro shop will have the paper scorecard waiting for you as usual on the cart. Look at the top of that card to find a unique 4 to 6 letter code called a GGID (Golf Genius ID) for your foursome.
Step 2: Choose Your App Scorer
Take a quick moment to decide who will handle the app. It is best if this is someone other than a cart driver, so one of the passengers in the group should volunteer to be the App Scorer.
Step 3: Open the App
The App Scorer opens the Golf Genius app. You do not need to create an account, log in, or use a password.
Step 4: Enter the Scores
Type your foursome's GGID code into the box and press enter.
Tap your name to confirm you are the scorer.
Your digital scorecard will pop up instantly, showing all four names down the left side, the hole information at the top, and everyone's individual handicap dots already filled in.
After each hole, tap the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to enter the raw gross strokes for each player, then tap "Save Scores." The app automatically flips to the next hole. When you are using Golf Genius, ALWAYS enter your gross score and the app will automatically calculate your net score.
Step 5: The Final Check
When your game is finished, the App Scorer and the paper scorecard keeper should compare notes to ensure all individual scores match perfectly. Once everyone agrees, turn in the signed paper card, and you are good to go!
If your entire foursome prefers not to use a phone on the course, don't sweat it. Just keep your traditional paper scorecard and turn it in after play. The staff will enter the scores into the system for you.
